Gabriela, 19, is in her second year at an academy where she is pursuing a degree in English. She resides in El Espino, where she lives with her mother–who does laundry for a living–and two younger sisters.
Gabriela leaves home around 12 pm each day and has class until she returns home at 5 in the evening. She has classes six days a week, Monday through Saturday.
We asked Gabriela to answer a few questions to get to know her better. Below are her responses!
What are your professional aspirations?
I want to study Tourism Development and become a professional as well as a good person.
Why do you think your education is important?
My education will help me become a professional so that I can help my family.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time I listen to music and watch movies.
What are your favorite books and music?
I like bachata and pop, and my favorite book is “Hace falta un muchacho,” which is a sort of coming-of-age story about adolescence.
What are your best qualities?
I am collaborative and I like to help others whenever they need it. I’m also a very happy person, I’m hardly ever sad.
